Worship Gathering Update

Worship Gathering Update
Peoria Nazarene Church

  Updated December 10, 2020

We are excited to provide in-person and online worship gatherings during this Christmas season. Please read this entire update for information on our plans to gather safely.

What in-person Worship gatherings will there be during the Christmas Season?

Our church board agreed upon a plan that will allow us to meet in person on Sundays with reduced risk from COVID-19, while going virtual only on Sundays with potentially increased risk of exposure from family gatherings and holiday travel. Our Christmas Worship schedule will be as follows:

  • December 13           In-Person and Online
  • December 20           In-Person and Online
  • December 24 (5pm) In-Person and Online
  • December 27           Online Only
  • January 3                 Online Only
  • January 10               In-Person and Online
  • Following Sundays In-Person and Online

Our small groups (both Sunday and through the week) WILL NOT BE MEETING IN PERSON until further notice. Groups and activities meeting on Zoom will continue.

What safety measures are in place for In-Person gatherings to reduce the risk of COVID-19?

We require the following safety measures for all who attend an in-person gathering. These measures have the support of the Northwestern Illinois District Church of the Nazarene. If you are uncomfortable attending with these measures, we invite you to stay connected with us online.

  • Wear a face covering for the duration of the service. We have face coverings available upon entry to the building.
  • Maintain six feet of distance between you and anyone not of your own household.
  • Sanitize your hands upon entering, before, and after contact with any person or any surface any other person may have touched.
  • Stay home if you are sick, have a fever, or develop symptoms.

What can I expect for Children’s Ministry during worship gatherings?

We are encouraging families to sit and worship together in-person and online. Our worship gatherings include a weekly interactive 8-10 minute Kids Sermon prepared especially for children and families. Families are welcome to bring activities, devices, earphones, etc., to help with young children. The nursery is open for parents of young children but will not be staffed.

Will there still be worship online after the pandemic is over?

Yes. We recognize how our online worship serves those who cannot physically attend. Nothing replaces the importance and blessing of gathering in-person, but for those who cannot attend we are committed to providing this ministry.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Pastor Mark.
